Godzilla Update

Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla DVD

Just watched the latest incarnation of Godzilla to be issued on DVD in the U.S. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla! This was easily the best Godzilla flick of the last 20 years! Good action, good FX, good acting, and a rare plot that actually makes sense!

Like the other recent releases Godzilla vs Megaguirus and Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, the DVD gives you the choice of dubbed English version or subtitled Japanese version. I prefer the subtitled Japanese, because (laugh if you must) I prefer to get the actors’ original performances rather than an ill-timed voiceover.

Big Screen Godzilla

Rialto has finally announce the dates for the (official) U.S. Big Screen debut of the original uncut 1954 Godzilla, not to be confused with the Americanized and Burr-enhanced version Godzilla, King of the Monsters (although IMDB seems to have done just that!)

As rumored (thanks Duba!), the New York engagement seems to be exclusive to my favorite NYC movie house, The Film Forum, from May 7-20.

See you there!!!

Godzilla Vs Calvert DeForest

Just kidding.
